For example, we restore the outer diameter of your plain bearings by spraying hard bronze or CrNi steel onto them, producing shims or welding on partial surfaces, and you end up with a plain bearing that corresponds to a new part in all functional dimensions.
Like new
First, the existing bearing metal is melted out and the oil is then removed from the support body, the surface is blasted, activated and pre-treated with immersion or wiping tin plating. The plain bearing is then coated using various coating processes with bearing materials tailored to the application. Depending on the geometries of the plain bearing, we use the centrifugal casting process (for plain bearings with an outer diameter of up to 2,200 mm) or the stationary casting process (e.g. for track bearing segments). Special manual welding processes are also used for larger dimensions and any geometric shapes.
Bearing materials
High-lead and high-tin white metal alloys are used as bearing materials for a wide range of applications and requirements.

For special applications - such as high static, dynamic and thermal loads in corrosive environments - the bearings are also manufactured from high-quality special bronze alloys.

Different coating processes are used depending on the application
The GLT Essen team always proceeds in the same way during regeneration: First, the bearing metal is melted out and the support body is cleaned of oil. This is followed by blasting the surface and pre-treatment using immersion tin plating or wiping tin plating. The next step in the regeneration of plain bearings is coating. Various coating processes are used depending on the requirements. For smaller plain bearings (up to 2,200 mm outside diameter), our team prefers the centrifugal casting process or the stationary casting process. For larger diameters, various manual welding processes have proven their worth. When selecting the coating process, our team also takes into account the geometry of the plain bearing and the customer's requirements.
